Password Setup

This guide covers creating and managing your account password.


Password Requirements

Your password must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 8 characters
  • At least one uppercase letter
  • At least one lowercase letter
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character (e.g., !@#$%^&*)

Creating Your Password

New User Setup

If you’re setting up your account for the first time:

  1. Click the invitation link in your email
  2. Accept the End User License Agreement
  3. On the password creation screen:
    • Enter your new password
    • Confirm your password by entering it again
  4. Click Create Password

Password Strength

The password strength indicator shows:

  • Weak - Does not meet minimum requirements
  • Fair - Meets basic requirements
  • Strong - Exceeds requirements with good complexity
  • Very Strong - Excellent password with high entropy

Changing Your Password

To change your existing password:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Security or Profile > Change Password
  2. Enter your current password
  3. Enter your new password
  4. Confirm your new password
  5. Click Update Password

You will be logged out of all other sessions after changing your password.


Forgot Password

If you’ve forgotten your password:

Step 1: Request Reset

  1. Click Forgot Password on the login page
  2. Enter your registered email address
  3. Click Send Reset Link

Step 2: Check Email

  1. Open the password reset email
  2. Click the Reset Password link
  3. The link expires after 24 hours

Step 3: Create New Password

  1. Enter your new password
  2. Confirm your new password
  3. Click Reset Password

Password Best Practices

Follow these recommendations for better security:

Do Don’t
Use a unique password for this account Reuse passwords from other services
Use a password manager Write passwords down
Update passwords periodically Share your password with others
Use passphrases (e.g., “Correct-Horse-Battery-Staple”) Use personal information

Troubleshooting

Password Not Accepted

  • Verify all requirements are met
  • Check for leading/trailing spaces
  • Ensure passwords match exactly
  • Check if the link has expired (24 hours)
  • Request a new reset link
  • Check spam/junk folder for the email

Account Locked

If your account is locked due to too many failed attempts:

  1. Wait 15-30 minutes for automatic unlock
  2. Contact your administrator if the issue persists
